Her Gilded Prison

Her Gilded Prison

by Beverley Oakley

She was determined to ensure the succession, he was in it for the pleasure…until they fell in love and scandalised society.

Lovely Lady Sybil yearns for a love she’s never received from her husband of 20 years, however it’s not the admiration of newly arrived heir, charming and rakish Stephen Cranbourne, that has her considering adultery.

It’s the fear that her husband’s inability to sire a son will see the estate go to mutton-headed Cousin Edgar, leaving Lady Sybil’s daughters vulnerable and potentially homeless when their father, the viscount dies.

Stephen’s stipulation that Lady Sybil must enjoy what she considers  sinful yet necessary, elevates the relationship to one of deep, abiding love.

But complications arise when Lady Sybil’s daughter, fiery, exquisite Araminta, sets her cap at Stephen, and when an unexpected contender for the viscountancy emerges.

Praise for Her Gilded Prison

Romancing the Book

Intriguing and Unique Historical Plot – Her Gilded Prison is the tale of her transformation from a dutiful, unhappy wife into a woman who finally experiences love, passion and romance for the first time….

“There was one lingering question that remained forefront in my mind the entire time I was reading this story. Is a happily ever after ending even an option for these two? My mind kept churning with possible scenarios and I was very pleasantly surprised with how Ms. Oakley chose to end this story. I look forward to reading more of this author and this series in the future.”

Amazon Reviewer

‘Victorian erotica is a heavily worked genre and the author who wants to write a book worth noticing needs to find something different–something that stands out from the crowd. Beverley Oakley achieves this and the moment when Stephen leads Lady Partington into her bedroom with the intention of possessing her is richly satisfying–for us as well as for them. There are clever plot twists that this reader, at any rate, did not see coming and they add to the enjoyment.
